(COSTILLA COUNTY) — The Costilla County Sheriff's Office reported that multiple agencies are investigating a possible animal attack that may have led to the death of one person east of Alamosa on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Sheriff's Office, along with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are investigating the incident, which took place in the Sangre De Cristo Ranches. Officials are waiting for the results from the El Paso County Coroner to determine the cause of death, according to the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office said that they are unable to verify what type of animal may have been involved in the attack until further analysis is complete. Those who live or are visiting in or around the area are asked to be on the lookout and aware of their surroundings. Deputies have hiked the immediate area with help from CBI and were not able to locate anything to identify the animal.
