Warmest air of 2025 around corner
Jan 25, 2025
The final weekend of January is here, and the Carolinas are finally starting to break free from Jack Frost’s icy clutches. Highs have broken into the 50s in the Piedmont and Foothills this Saturday afternoon for the first time in nearly a week – and it gets even warmer from here. After variable clouds in the morning, abundant sunshine and southwesterly winds will fuel highs into the mid-50s around the Metro as a cold front approaches from the west. While most of the moisture remains well to our south, a few showers may slip into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area overnight Sunday into Monday.
Despite the passage of the aforementioned cold front by the start of the workweek, temperatures won’t budge much – in fact, they will rise sharply into midweek. Expect to see 60s in the Charlotte area and southward for the first time in 2025 on Tuesday, followed by mid-60s on Wednesday. Another cold front arrives by Wednesday evening, bringing another round of isolated showers – but this time, cooler air comes through for the Carolinas. The back half of the week looks dry and sunny with near-average temperatures in the mid-50s for the Metro while the High Country enjoys another round of northwesterly flow snow.
