Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns may have headlined the Knicks’ All-Star voting results, but Josh Hart also turned heads with his placement among the league’s elite. Hart, listed as a guard on All-Star ballots, finished 10th among Eastern Conference backcourt players in player votes, 11th in fan votes, and tied for eighth place in media votes. It was a strong showing for a player whose gritty style of play often goes underappreciated in the star-driven NBA. Despite the recognition, Hart remains humble about his All-Star chances. “I don’t [pay much attention to it],” he told The Daily News ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings. “I mean, it’s cool, and if I was ever able to get to something like that, it would obviously be an honor — but that’s not for a guy like me, man.” Hart finished tied with Washington’s Jordan Poole for 10th among Eastern guards and ahead of notable names like Boston’s Derrick White, Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton, Milwaukee’s Jrue Holiday, and Chicago’s Zach LaVine. Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau believes the recognition is well-deserved. “I think it’s deserving, too. I think he’s really having a terrific season,” Thibodeau said. “He’s put a lot into it. I think it’s great he’s being recognized for the contributions that he’s making, because when you look at his role, he’s really starring in his role. You can’t ask for anything more.” Hart is averaging 14 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 55.7% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc. His physical, no-holds-barred approach has made him a fan favorite — even if he’s not entirely sure of the reception. “I don’t know [if fans like watching me play]. I hope so. I hope they do. I just try to go out there and play hard,” Hart said. “That’s all that goes into my mind. I hope people enjoy it. I know it’s a little reckless for some, but you know, that’s me.” INJURY UPDATES Add another name to the Knicks’ injury report. The Knicks listed Hart as questionable with right knee soreness ahead of Saturday’s game against the Kings. Thibodeau, however, suggested it’s not a new issue and expects Hart to play through it. “I think it’s been there. I think he just keeps going,” Thibodeau said. “So I think most guys right now this time of the year, everyone has something.” Hart, who ranks second in total minutes played behind Mikal Bridges this season, has battled through various injuries. Asked about his knee, Hart quipped, “It’s there. It’s intact.” MITCHELL ROBINSON PROGRESSING Injured Knicks center Mitchell Robinson continues to make steady progress but has not been cleared for contact, according to Thibodeau. Robinson, who hasn’t played since sustaining a second stress fracture in his left ankle during last season’s playoffs, remains a key piece missing from the Knicks’ lineup. “It’s hard for me to say [if Robinson will return in January] because I’m not in for his individual workouts. I’m not in when he’s doing his weight training and his conditioning in there,” Thibodeau said on Friday. “But I see what he’s doing on the court, and around the team and the film sessions and things like that — and that’s all positive. I have to trust the medical people to give him clearance. When that happens, there’s a number of hurdles for him to get through. But there haven’t been any set-backs, which is very positive. And we want to be patient. When the time is right, it’s right so we’ll know.” TOWNS WORKING THROUGH SLUMP Towns has struggled from beyond the arc since spraining his right thumb on Jan. 13 against Detroit, shooting just 1-of-9 from deep. Despite the slump, Thibodeau praised Towns for his versatility and toughness. “The thing about KAT is his versatility serves him so well. He can shoot the three. But he can also put it on the floor. He can drive the ball and post up. Play back to the basket. Shoot with either hand. Great touch. He’s got great hands,” Thibodeau said. “He plays through things, and that says a lot about him.” For Towns, the focus is on staying consistent and working through the challenges of playing with an injured thumb. “It probably bothers him more when he misses,” Thibodeau added. “But he’s tough. He’ll figure it out.”
