Wilbraham Fire Chief Michael Andrews said that the fire department received a call at 3:05 a.m. on Saturday from the homeowner at 939 Monson Road regarding a house fire. The fire resulted in the temporary closure of multiple surrounding streets, from Beebe Road in Wilbraham to Thayer Road in Monson.

Mutual aid was provided by fire crews from Monson, Palmer, Ludlow, Three Rivers, Hampden, Westover AFB, and East Longmeadow. The Wilbraham Fire Services Rehab unit was also at the location to ensure the safety of the firefighters in freezing temperatures.
Wilbraham police were also at the location assisting. Officers said that due to the neighborhood where the fire began, crews needed to bring in a pool of water since there were no public water sources in the area. The road closure is also a result of ice that has formed on the streets while putting out the fire.
The Wilbraham Fire Department said that all members of the home safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
The roads opened back up at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday. Drivers are urged to use caution due to icy conditions in the area.
