WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Amherst Railway Society's Railroad Hobby Show is back at the Eastern States Exposition, showcasing all facets of railroad hobbies. This is America's largest railroad-themed trade show, occupying four buildings and 400,000 square feet of space. The show dates back to the mid-1960s, and year after year, it attracts thousands of enthusiasts from New England and beyond. Westfield seniors honored at final swim meet spotlight The event displays model railroads, railroad art and photography, tourist railroads, artifacts, and so much more. On Saturday evening, "Women in Model Railroading" hosts a special session to give women a chance to learn more about the hobby and meet others who share their interests. Then, Maggie the Railroad Clown will perform on stage and throughout the show buildings, showing off her magic tricks and juggling for children of all ages. And of course, what's a train show without a train ride? The Amherst Railway Society and CT Rail are working together to provide train rides between Springfield and New Haven, Conn. to anyone interested for a small fee. The show is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
