PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Fall River woman was arrested in Portsmouth for DUI, with a 2-year-old child in the back of the vehicle. According to police, around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, they saw a white Volkswagen Tiguan traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on East Main Road near the Walgreens. When they stopped the SUV, officer said the suspect, later identified as Dara Dupre, 24, of Fall River, showed multiple signs of alcohol impairment, including a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. They also found a 2-year-old child in a safety seat in the rear of the vehicle. Officers performed standardized field sobriety tests on Dupre and she was arrested on suspicion of DUI. After being transported to Portsmouth Police Headquarters, Dupre failed a chemical breath test. She is was issued a citation for speeding, and also charged with Driving Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs, 1st Offense and DUI of Liquor/Drugs, Child Under 13 as Passenger, 1st Offense.
