The Potter Co. Battlers gave the Buffs all they could handle in a makeup game on Friday night. The Battlers came out firing on all cylinders, forcing turnovers and hitting shots and even taking a late, 7-point lead. As the fourth quarter began, the Buffs knew they would need their stars to get them back in the game. Kaden Montana made a couple crucial baskets and the Bufs were able to tie it up once again. A late turnover by the Battlers sent the Buffs and Eddie Duffy to the line with a chance to ice it. Duffy missed his first free throw, but made the second and gave Stanley Co. a 51-48 lead. Potter County’s Jerand Chase took the inbound pass and went coast to coast to try and tie it back up, but Duffy made an incredible play on the defensive end blocking Chase’s shot and ending the game. Montana led the Buffs in scoring with 20, Landon Larson led the Battlers with 23. The Buffs go on the road Saturday to take on Cheyenne Eagle Butte, coverage will be on KGFX.
