VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Virginia Beach firefighters worked to put out an apartment fire early Saturday morning. The VBFD said five people lost their home and another person was rushed to a local hospital. Crews tell 10 On Your Side they got the call just before 2:30 a.m. for an apartment complex that had caught fire on Deacons Lane. They were able to put the fire out within about a half-hour. Five people and a dog reportedly lost their home in the fire. A VBFD spokesperson said one person was treated for smoke inhalation and was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
