Temperatures improve this weekend; above average highs return early next week!
Jan 25, 2025
Cloud cover has returned to central Indiana this morning after seeing sunshine and highs in the 20s on Friday. Skies are going to remain mostly cloudy today as a system travels over the upper Great Lakes region. The added cloud cover may even produce a few flurries through the early afternoon hours. However, there is not much moisture associated with the approaching cold front, so not everyone will see the light snow.
There is a chance to see peeks of sun at times this afternoon as southerly winds drive temperatures above the freezing mark! Highs will rise into the mid to upper 30s this afternoon. It is going to be breezy today with the potential for wind gusts up to 20 MPH.
A wind shift will occur overnight as a cold front slides over central Indiana. Wind speeds will remain elevated as the boundary passes, then turn lighter by daybreak Sunday. Skies will remain mostly cloudy as lows drop into the lower to mid-20s.
Temperatures are going to trend cooler behind the boundary with highs in the lower 30s Sunday afternoon. At least skies will turn partly sunny, and the northwestern breeze is going to be lighter compared to Saturday.
Are you ready for a brief warm-up this week? Milder air does return to central Indiana early in the workweek, and Indianapolis will have a shot at 40-degree temperatures through Wednesday! A high-pressure system will allow for sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday! By Wednesday, another cold front arrives, and it may bring a light wintry mix by afternoon/evening. Temperatures will drop back to the mid-30s by Thursday.
