KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) – Two small business owners from the Kansas City area are creating Chiefs-inspired masterpieces from cake. Mike Elder, of Black Sheep Custom Cakes, and Cami SanRomani, or Cami's Cake Co., recently worked together to recreate Arrowhead Stadium — out of cake, of course — in honor of the AFC playoffs. (Cami SanRomani) “When we make these massive cakes, Mike is the mastermind. He can see the shape. He can start digging into cake and it starts taking shape very, very quickly,” SanRomani said. “I do all the details and that's what makes us such a great team.” Young Bills fan travels 8,000 miles to attend playoff game The Arrowhead Stadium cake — which the Chiefs commissioned them to make — took two days to decorate. Then, it took another two hours to transport the cake in the car to the stadium. “It's really fun to create stuff like this, to deliver it to people that you know are diehard fans, and they know what the stadium looks like. So, it's really got to be right,” Elder said. “Its' really great and it's been shared and people have been so happy with it. It's like winning the Super Bowl.” In addition to Arrowhead Stadium, Elder has created cake-based replicas of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and team mascot KC Wolf. He's also made former Eagles center Jason Kelce, albeit a shirtless version. “Most of the stuff you see is modeling chocolate,” Elder said of his latest creation, an Andy Reid cake complete with headphones and a mustache. Start to finish, he said it took him about four hours. Elder and his work have been featured on more than a dozen TV shows. He said he enjoys teaming with Cami to collaborate on edible works of art. The Arrowhead Stadium cake, which could feed up to 400 people, was especially rewarding. “Gracie hunt posted it on her page, talking about how great it was, and I had a few pieces of it too,” Elder said. “It was good.” (Hunt told People that Cami's Cake Co. also made a cake that Travis Kelce ordered Taylor Swift for her birthday.) ‘Best rookie year of all time'? Jayden Daniels has Commanders a win away from Super Bowl Elder believes their cakes bring good luck, too. “It just happens to turn out that whenever we do a large cake, the chiefs usually win,” Elder said. “Not saying it's our fault, but we'll take it if we can.” Cami said she and Elder are working on another order for the Chiefs: some 2,500 cookies and cupcakes for the AFC Championship game this weekend.
