WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Fans of the burgundy and gold are juggling a wave of emotions heading into the NFC Championship game against Philadelphia on Sunday. The franchise's whirlwind performance and turnaround within just a year have gripped fans, as standout rookie Quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to drive a fresh franchise down the field. Sunday's game against the Eagles marks Washington's first visit to the NFC Championship since the 1991-1992 season. A self-described fan of 40 years, Alejandro Ferrer of Panama City, Panama, caught up with DC News Now Friday at Union Station, before taking an Amtrak ride to the "city of brotherly love." Washington Commanders fans optimistic about Sunday’s NFC Championship game against Philadelphia Eagles "It's been 33 years since our last trip to the NFC Championship, so I might as well go," Ferrer said, noting that Sunday's matchup will mark his fourth attendance to a Washington game. Ferrer said he has followed the team since the 1980s when he watched them on TV. "It's a tough game, a division rival always makes it difficult. But, we've got faith in Jayden and I know [that] we'll play our hearts out," Ferrer said. "I'm just happy with the team. The turnaround has been incredible. Whatever outcome, I am more than satisfied with what has happened. I'm just here to support them," he said. Inside Union Station, one Commanders fan - decked out in a Redskins scarf and cap - had a playful, minutes-long back-and-forth with an Eagles fan inside the bus terminal. Away from the train station, a buzzing feeling of excitement has been felt in the barber's chair this week, as several fans have been getting the team 'W' shaved into their haircuts. "We're going to put a 'W' on here," said Eric Julius, owner and barber of Royal Cut Kings in Gaithersburg, Md. Friday. A line of men sat patiently Friday as staff traced, shaved and colored burgundy and gold W's on their heads.
