LEAWOOD, Kan. -- Two “blessed” custodians in the Blue Valley School District are going to a playoff game thanks to some generous parents and thoughtful students. Students and parents are sending the custodial staff at Mission Trail Elementary School to the AFC Championship game. “Chiefs!” The students cheered. “Go Buffalo, go Buffalo,” day custodian Constantin Sas said. There's a friendly rivalry happening inside the walls at Mission Trail Elementary. Mr. Constantin is a custodian and Buffalo Bills fanatic. His teammate, Lead Custodian Melody Burns, is a lifelong Chiefs fan. Chiefs safety Justin Reid welcomes the birth of his first child “Just kind of move your arms like that,” Melody said showing a student a new dance move. Melody knows her way around a touchdown dance, but it's been a decade since whe's been to a game. “They both work so hard because she works at night and has to stay here,” fifth grader Sylvie Mechke said. “I wonder how she sleeps?” Melody and Constantin sport their team's gear every day, not just on Red Friday. So, when students, like Meschke and Charlotte Hanke found out the Chiefs were playing the Bills their parents drew up a play. “Mr. Constantin, he's never been in his life,” Sylvie said. “And I told him, like, ‘Do you ever want to go to a Bills game?’ And he said, ‘I really, really want to go, but I don't know if I'll be able to afford it. Or be able to go.’ And so, I thought, 'That's a really good idea.'” A group of parents bought tickets to the AFC Championship for Melody and Constantin. Blue Valley shared the video of the moment Ms. Melody found out. “When somebody does that for you, it's like a blessing,” Melody said. “It really is especially to the championship game, the playoffs!” In just five hours, Mission Trail parents raised nearly $2,000. The pair is sitting in section 108. Families also surprised the employees with a parking pass, new merch and $150 each. “They make me feel that I am loved and appreciated, you know, and make me feel that I just want to retire from this place,” Constantin said. “The amount of love and it's overwhelming.” Parents told FOX4 they're grateful for the work this pair does year-round, but especially the extra effort they put in clearing ice and snow this past month. “They have a really big heart,” Hanke said. “When my sister lost her Invisalign, he helped her look for it in the trash can,” Sylvie said. Keep an eye out for Max the Bulldog in the stands. Melody and Constantin will be bringing a poster of him to the game. Kickoff is Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Arrowhead.
