Following a four-year investigation, rock star Marilyn Manson will not face sexual assault and domestic abuse charges. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the decision on Friday, saying the statute of limitations had lapsed in the case and that prosecutors “cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt.” “While we are unable to bring charges in this matter, we recognize that the strong advocacy of the women involved has helped bring greater awareness to the challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault,” Hochman continued, thanking the women who came forward for their courage and resilience. While the identities of the women centered in the investigation were not made clear by prosecutors, the case is seemingly connected to sexual assault allegations that resulted in a 2021 search warrant executed at Manson’s L.A. home, during which detectives seized multiple media devices, including hard drives. At the time of the search, law enforcement was already looking into abuse accusations brought against Manson by his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood and “Game of Thrones” actress Esme Bianco. Bianco, who sued and then settled a lawsuit with Manson, released a statement on Friday saying she was “disappointed” by the D.A.’s decision not to bring charges against the shock-rocker, but said she understood the hurdles prosecutors face. “Once again, our justice system has failed survivors,” she wrote on Instagram. “Not the individual prosecutors and detectives who worked for years on this case, but the system that made them do so with one hand tied behind their collective backs.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Esmé Bianco (@esmebianco) “I know the truth of what happened to me. It sits deeply rooted in my belly, unshakable, mine. No one and nothing can take that away,” she continued. “So to all the survivors reading this, who are being hit by yet another piece of stinging news and feeling hopeless or discouraged, let me remind you: You know your truth also.” Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, has denied all claims of sexual assault and physical abuse brought by at least 16 women going back over a decade. Representatives for Manson did not immediately return a request for comment.
