Watch live: Trump speaks during trip to California wildfire zone
Jan 24, 2025
President Trump on Friday is planning to tour a neighborhood in Pacific Palisades, Calif., which was ravaged in the ongoing wildfires in and around Los Angeles, before making public remarks later in the afternoon.
Trump has blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) over the wildfires, fueled by drought and powerful winds, with Republicans in Congress threatening to place conditions on emergency aid to California. LA Mayor Karen Bass (D) has also come under intense scrutiny amid the fires.
The wildfires, which tore through some of Los Angeles’s most high-income communities, resulted in 28 confirmed deaths and are expected to cause up to $250 billion in damage, by some estimates.
Trump is scheduled to begin his tour of Pacific Palisades at 3:25 p.m. PST, with remarks scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
