San Mateo man arrested, accused of stabbing during argument

(BCN) -- A San Mateo man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing someone during an argument, police said Thursday.
On Wednesday just after 11 a.m., a patrol officer in the area of Poplar Avenue and South Amphlett Boulevard in San Mateo was investigating parking complaints when he heard a loud argument between two men on the sidewalk.
According to police, the argument escalated and Cristian Gomez, 26, allegedly stabbed the other man. The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. The officer requested additional officers to respond to the scene and gave commands to Gomez to drop the knife. Gomez was eventually arrested.

Investigators used security camera footage and interviews with witnesses to build their case, San Mateo police said.
Gomez was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was still in custody Thursday.
