Boston felon sentenced to prison for ammunition possession

BOSTON (WWLP) - A man from Boston was sentenced for being a felon in possession of ammunition.

The Department of Justice states that on December 18, 2022, 36-year-old Nicholas Carle ran from officers after being stopped for a traffic violation. As he ran off, Carle dropped his coat, with a Smith & Wesson .357 revolver, loaded with six rounds of ammunition, inside. Carle is not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition due to prior felony convictions, such as a conviction for possession of a firearm without a permit.
Approximately 2.5 pounds of a substance that appeared to be marijuana was also located inside his vehicle's trunk.
Carle pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of ammunition after being charged in April 2023. He was sentenced to 42 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
