[1] Suspect killed, officer injured during shooting in northeast Albuquerque - An Albuquerque Police Department officer was injured and a suspect was killed in a shooting early Friday morning at an apartment complex near Montgomery Blvd. and Carlisle Blvd. APD says during the shooting, a resident of the apartment complex was injured and transported to the hospital. Officers say they are unsure if the resident was injured due to gunfire or flying debris from the exchange. Police say the officer was shot struck in the leg and was taken to a hospital. They say both the resident and the officer are expected to survive.
[2] District Attorney Sam Bregman speaks on actions taken by President Trump - Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman says his office will continue to prosecute criminals regardless if they're an American citizen or not, however they will not specifically seek out illegal immigrants. Bregman says he's concerned the executive orders will affect immigrants reporting crimes they see.
[3] Temperatures warming before an incoming winter storm - Today, this high pressure system has been replaced by a low pressure system. This change is now bringing in warmer air to New Mexico. Resulting in a quick warm up this afternoon. These warmer temperatures will last through the weekend for most. This low pressure system will also turn into the next winter storm for New Mexico. The first snowflakes could be seen in New Mexico on Saturday.
[4] New Mexico Supreme Court chief justice asks legislature to fund judiciary needs - New Mexico's Chief Justice is asking lawmakers for millions in funding. The courts are asking for $14 million to increase pay for employees. Chief Justice Thomson says competitive pay is essential for retention. The courts are asking for a one-time allocation of $25 million to improve security at the courthouses over the course of six years. They are also asking for $3.5 million to help monitor defendants who wear tracking devices while waiting for trial
[5] 2024 New Mexico Bowl brings in millions of dollars for the city of Albuquerque - Organizers say the impact of this year's Isleta New Mexico Bowl was felt well beyond the stadium. New Mexico Bowl organizers say the game had almost 23,000 attendees. Visit Albuquerque says the game brought in around $3.2 million to the city in direct visitor spending. New Mexico Bowl says 1.2 million people tuned in to watch the game on TV in 2023 and viewership was up 44% in 2024.
