BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A Connecticut man who admitted to his role in a 2022 Martha’s Vineyard bank robbery was sentenced to four years in prison this week.
According to the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office, 22-year-old Romane Andre Clayton, of New Haven, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the robbery.
It happened on Nov. 17, 2022 at the Rockland Trust Bank in Vineyard Haven.
Clayton served as a lookout during the robbery, and had a walkie talkie to communicate with the other robbers.
Clayton also hid a getaway car in Correllus State Forest before biking to the bank to participate in the robbery.
Inside the bank, one of the robbers held a gun to a bank employee’s head. The group of robbers escaped with more than $39,000.
The man who prosecutors said led the conspiracy was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison. The other two men involved pleaded guilty and are still awaiting sentencing, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Clayton’s four-year prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release.
