VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A former Virginia Beach massage therapist was sentenced on Thursday to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a client.
Virginia Beach massage therapist found guilty of sexual assault
A jury found 47-year-old Bowen Lee Lajesse guilty on Oct. 1, 2024, of object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery-incapacity and battery as treatment not recognized in profession. On Thursday, Jan. 23, Circuit Court Judge Afshin Farashahi sentenced Lejesse to a total of 30 years with 22 suspended. Lejesse will also have to register as a sex offender, complete sex offender treatment and remain on good behavior for 30 years.
Court documents state that on Jan. 29, 2023, the victim booked a massage with Lejesse at the Fuller School for Massage Therapy. The victim had booked appointments at this location multiple times, but had never gotten a massage from Lajesse.
During the massage, the victim fell asleep, where Lajesse then began sexually assaulting her. The victim eventually woke up and pushed Lajesse's hand away from her. She then paid her bill and quickly left to her car, where she then called her best friend and mother, the documents state.
The victim then told her husband about the assault. The two then returned to the Fuller School, where the husband then confronted Lajesse.
Lajesse then admitted to inappropriately touching the victim, but claimed that "there must have been a misunderstanding." Shortly afterwards, Lajesse was terminated by the Fuller School and forfeited his massage therapy license.
