Police say allegedly kidnapped woman found in Greenwood man's car after police chase

BARGERSVILLE, Ind. — A Greenwood man is behind bars after police found an allegedly kidnapped woman in his crashed vehicle in the aftermath of a police chase.
James Gabriel Pietrzak was arrested early Thursday after the pursuit ended in a crash in Morgan County.
According to the Bargersville Police Department, the pursuit began with officers pulling Pietrzak's vehicle over around Old State Road 37 and Huggin Hollow Road near Bargersville. Pietrzak had reportedly been driving left of center which prompted the traffic stop.
Pietrzak ended up fleeing from police in his vehicle and kicked off a police pursuit into Morgan County. During the chase, Pietrzak allegedly left the roadway before crashing near Banta Road and Interstate 69.

Police said Pietrzak fled on foot after the crash. Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff's Department set up a perimeter which helped catch Pietrzak.
After the pursuit, police uncovered an alleged kidnapped woman inside Pietrzak's crashed vehicle.
Police said the woman was not injured in the crash.
At this time, no additional details were released about the alleged kidnapping.
Pietrzak was taken to Johnson County Jail where he is being held on preliminary charges of criminal confinement, kidnapping, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and more.
The Johnson County Prosecutor's Office has yet to file official charges.
Court records show Pietrzak had an active warrant at the time of his arrest out of Carroll County for possession of meth. Pietrzak also has a long history of being charged with driving on a suspended license.
