ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Multiple men have been charged in connection to several crimes believed to be connected to a 2016 shooting that left a man dead.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, they have charged Demetrius Deshawn Hairston, 34, Mandre Daquan Graves and Timmy Anthony Williamson II, 29, in connection to the 2016 shooting death of Cornelius Montrell Clark, then 23, of Eden.
Clark was found dead inside a silver van just off of NC 14 after reports of a car crash around 1 a.m. on Nov. 20, 2016. He was found shot to death in the driver's seat of the van, according to a release from the sheriff's office on Friday.
In late 2024, the sheriff's office was "able to utilize new technologies that provided sufficient evidence" to bring up charges against Hairston. He was charged with first-degree murder, as well as shooting into occupied property connected to a shooting the day before in Eden. Hairston was already incarcerated when he was charged.
Graves, who is currently incarcerated in Virginia, was also charged with shooting into occupied property in connection to Clark's death. He is awaiting extradition, according to the sheriff's office.
Williamson was charged with breaking and entering in Ruffin the day before Clark's homicide, and was arrested on Christmas Eve in Anderson, South Carolina where he lived, and was extradited back to Rockingham County.
Investigators say that they believe the shooting in Eden and the breaking-and-entering in Ruffin are both connected to the shooting death of Clark.

“I want to thank my Deputies and Investigators, the Eden Police Department, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, and the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office for all of their hard work throughout this investigation," said Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page. “We have followed all leads on this case over the years as they became available, and we knew it was only a matter of time before it would all come together. Though we cannot bring Mr. Clark back, we can help to give his family closure and justice.”
