RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Five young children are recovering after being in a golf cart that flipped over in a Wake Forest neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. The town says the driver has been brought up on multiple charges, including DWI.
"I have seen golf carts in our neighborhood from time to time, but I was like, Lord what happened?" said Robert Reed.
Reed lives along the roundabout at Tansley Street and Linslade Way, where the crash happened, "When I saw it, my first thought was like, Lord, I pray there were no kids involved."

The Town of Wake Forest says the driver, Elizabeth Prochaska was under the influence. A spokesperson says five young children were riding with her, including one potentially on her lap.
"My concern was who was in it with her? Because I’ve seen golf carts before with kids and people, and I didn’t see any kids that were there, but there were kids who were standing around," said Reed.
While golf carts have become increasingly popular in suburban neighborhoods, there are laws in place.

Per Wake Forest law, it is prohibited to drive a golf cart on any public road.
A town spokesperson says Prochaska is charged with DWI, five counts of child abuse, driving an unregistered vehicle on a public road, careless and reckless driving and not having insurance.
