Weekend cold front boosts rain chances
Jan 24, 2025
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Slowly but surely... we're getting further from the 20s and 30s and closer to more seasonable temperatures for the time of year.
Afternoon highs will warm to the upper 50s and low 60s under a bright blue sky today. Winds will remain light out of the south/southwest today.
A light freeze can be expected in some areas overnight, marking the last night of low 30s for most of us for awhile.
Clouds will be on the increase tomorrow with a few spots of light rain possible by evening. An approaching cold front will interact with the Gulf moisture in place, resulting in a better chance for scattered rain on Sunday.
Monday and Tuesday's rain chances are lower, but a much wetter pattern sets up toward the middle and end of next week.
By the end of the next 7 days we expect most areas end up with 1" or more of rain, but parts of the Hill Country may end up under the 1 inch mark.
