FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man was arrested after he fled from law enforcement during an attempted motorcycle stop Thursday in Fresno, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies say at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, a deputy on patrol near W. Dudley and N. Marks avenues in Fresno attempted to stop a motorcycle that did not have a visible license plate.
The sheriff's office identified the motorcyclist as 56-year-old Benny Brusso. They say Brusso did not pull over; instead, he accelerated away and ran stop signs.
Brusso ultimately ended the short pursuit by skidding out and laying his bike down near Olive and Hughes Avenues.
Deputies say a records search showed that Brusso is a sex offender who has not renewed his registration. According to deputies, he had meth, marijuana and copper wire in his possession.
Deputies say they don't have "proof" that the copper wire was stolen.
Brusso had warrants, according to deputies, for not updating sex offender information and for suspicion of possession of drugs.
Deputies say Brusso was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of suspicion of evading police and drug possession.
Those with any additional information regarding Brusso are asked to contact the sheriff's office at 559-600-3111.
