JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ) The Missouri Public Service Commission on Thursday held a public hearing in Jefferson City over a proposed electric rate increase for Ameren. The utility company is asking for an additional $446 million, which it says would cost the average resident around $17.45 more each month, or 15.77% A majority of people in the room were against the hike. “They need to utilize the resources they already have, maybe look at more reliable energy sources, coal, natural gas, oil that can really deliver when we need it,” attendee Larry Barns said.
