EPFD said the call came in at 5:09 p.m. at Fred Wilson Avenue and Alabama Street.
EPFD said the gas leak was officially secured at 8:23 p.m. However, Texas Gas needs specialized equipment to fix the gas line, which is underneath the street, and Fred Wilson Avenue will be blocked off at least through Friday.
EPFD said there will be a strong smell of gas south of the location due to the wind direction, but there is no imminent danger and there's no need for evacuations.
In addition, Texas Gas started to secure some of the gas valves in the area and it should not affect any customers, EPFD said.
No injuries or transports were reported.
This is a developing story and we will update once we learn more.
