COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- The president of the Columbus chapter of the NAACP is being told to step down from her position and the organization itself.  Nana Watson received a cease and desist letter from the NAACP national office.  The letter, obtained by NBC4, alleges Watson mishandled membership dues, refused to work with other organizations, and made false statements regarding correspondence with the national office.  NBC4 has reached out to Watson and to the Columbus chapter for statements, but they have not responded.  Watson has been president of the chapter for about a decade. The letter ends with the following sentence:  “You are directed to cease and desist immediately from holding yourself out as a member of the NAACP and as the Columbus branch NAACP president.”  According to the letter, Watson has 15 days to respond to the letter and request a hearing with the national office.
