Person seriously hurt after falling off platform, getting hit by train in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) said a person was seriously hurt after falling off a Metro platform and being hit by a train on Thursday.
DCFD said at around 3:45 p.m., a person was using their electric wheelchair when they "appeared" to have lost control of it and fell off the platform at the Anacostia Metro Station located at 1100 Howard Road.

The person was then hit by a train.
The victim was still conscious and crews were able to rescue them. They were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Trains will be single-tracking between Southern Avenue and Navy Yard.
