ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Hey, it wasn't as cold today! Much of the region "warmed" in the 20s this afternoon with a few spots ticking the 30° mark. A trough of low pressure is swinging through this evening, set to shift the winds from SW to NW later tonight. This will drive scattered lake effect snow showers inland through Friday. Localized totals of 1-3" will be possible mainly in the vicinity of the 104 corridor of Orleans, Monroe & Wayne counties. Within that generalization, isolated pockets of 3-6" will be possible where heavier squalls persist through the first part of our Friday. Another shift in the wind late will push action back northward out over the lake again, perhaps granting us a partial view of a weak northern lights display. NOAA is forecasting Minor G1 conditions to develop Friday night in response to the arrival of a "Sun burp".
