VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE)—A two-month operation to crack down on thefts from stores in Visalia ended with over 100 arrests. The Visalia Police Department's operation "Holiday Madness" was designed to stop a surge in retail theft and residential burglaries.
The "Holiday Madness" operation was coordinated by the Visalia Police Department's Property Crimes Unit and HOPE Team during November and December of 2024.

Police say the operation resulted in 102 arrests and the recovery of $35,000 in stolen goods.
Officials say many of the suspects arrested during the operation were from outside the Visalia area. Proposition 36, which was in effect during the operation, meant that some retail thefts were instead classified as felonies.
The operation focused on making arrests and recovering stolen goods during the holiday season.
