BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. The body of a man was found during a search for a missing, at-risk 78-year-old man near Allenspark on Thursday, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.Kent Dannen, 78, was reported missing by a family member on Tuesday afternoon. The family member said they had not heard from Dannen since Jan. 16.The sheriff's office said deputies went to Dannen's home on Big Owl Road near Allenspark on Tuesday to conduct a welfare check. He was not home, but deputies determined that he may have "left his home on foot."BCSO searched the property Tuesday and did not find the missing man.On Wednesday, 15 search and rescue personnel and volunteers went back out to the property and conducted a wider search. BCSO said an alert was sent out to neighbors asking if anyone had seen Dannen. The group utilized search dogs and a drone, but Dannen was not located Wednesday. The search continued Thursday morning with 35 search and rescue personnel and volunteers. Around 11:40 a.m. Thursday, the body of a man matching Dannen's description was found roughly 0.5 miles from his home, according to the sheriff's office.The sheriff's office said the man was found by members of the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, a volunteer organization composed of high school students. The Boulder County Coroner's Office will confirm the man's identity, as well as his cause and manner of death.
