TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that broke out in a Tiverton home Thursday afternoon.
Tiverton Fire Chief William Bailey said firefighters were called to the Nanquaket Road home around 2:30 p.m.
"Initial reports were that the roof was on fire," Bailey explained. "We had a very active fire in the attic."
Bailey said firefighters were able to knock down the flames within an hour.
"We were able to save the house," Bailey said.
Bailey said the resident who lived there was able to escape safely. No injuries were reported.
