Migrant workers who worked with vegetables and fruits were forced to work sick as well as the meat packers where in both scenarios mother nature herself gets overly exploited for a not well regulated food industry and for cash. Our own state billionaires do not want to at least part with any of their cash and live a 9 digit cash life. Meanwhile, to my knowledge none of the workers that became essential are having rising wages that would match their essential needs that have become more expensive. These essential workers will pay more in taxes and pay more of their salary into social security than the billionaires in the state of Oregon. The migrant workers are treated more fairly that in other states but they are still not equal workers. The pandemic exposed the problems workers faced and yet the aftermath essentially left the exposed issues go unanswered. Billionaires at the state level paying taxes and paying workers properly would solve much of the problems concerning the working class.
