Chilly weather continues in NOLA, warming trend expected through next week
Jan 23, 2025
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Snow cover is melting in parts of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, but the process is slow, keeping the ground cool with travel conditions gradually improving.
Tonight, temperatures will dip again, prompting a Cold Weather Advisory until Friday morning.
Bundle up if heading outside, as lows will hover around the freezing mark in the New Orleans metro and most locations south of Lake Pontchartrain. Residents across the northern half of the region will experience another night chilly weather, with overnight lows dropping into the mid- and upper-20s.
Friday will see more sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs in the upper-40s. The weekend will begin cold on Saturday morning, with another freeze possible in many areas, but warmer weather is on the horizon.
By Sunday, temperatures will climb into the 60s, and clouds will start to increase. There’s a small chance of rain Sunday afternoon, and showers become more likely early next week.
The warming trend continues, with highs reaching the upper 60s to around 70 by midweek. Stay tuned for updates as next week’s rain chances develop.
