WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The West Lafayette Police Department is investigating after suspects reportedly stole an ATM from a local bank early Thursday morning.
According to WLPD, officers responded around 2:51 a.m. to an alarm for the ATM at the Purdue Federal Credit Union on the 1500 block of Win Hentschel Blvd. Upon arrival, police noticed that an ATM was ripped from its base and the cash drawers were removed.
Security footage showed suspects using a pickup truck and chain to remove the ATM, WLPD said. Yet since the suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts, investigators could not identify them at the time. They said at least three people were involved in the theft.
However, WLPD said the truck used in the crime was located by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department shortly thereafter. It was determined to be stolen from a nearby apartment complex, per WLPD.
Those with information on this case are encouraged to call WLPD at (765) 775-5200. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can also call the WeTip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME (27463).
