FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — The department received a donation to purchase body armor for one of its K-9s that serves the Fort Wayne district.   ISP Public Information Officer Wes Rowlader says the donation will be used to buy a bullet and stab protective vest for K-9 Knox. According to our partners in news at 21ALIVE, the funds were provided by the non-profit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., Rowlader says, which works to provide protective equipment for dogs of law enforcement agencies and other related groups. Since it was founded in 2009, the non-profit has helped supply over 5,882 U.S.-made, custom-fitted vests to K-9s in all 50 states thanks to private and corporate donations. K-9 Knox completed his 12-week training course in December 2023 and was paired with Trooper Adam Carroll to serve the Fort Wayne District.
