Boil advisories issued for some Louisiana parishes after water pressure drops
Jan 23, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Boil advisories have been issued in several Louisiana parishes following heavy snowfall, which caused plumbing line breaks and a drop in water pressure.
According to the Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP), multiple citizens experienced plumbing line breaks due to the freezing weather, causing a drop in the water pressure.
The Ascension Parish advisory notice was issued for Burnside, Darrow, Hillaryville, Sorrento and St. Landry Avenue residents.
Residents in East Iberville were given a boil advisory as a precautionary measure after a similar drop in water pressure in the local water system.
The advisory will be lifted once the Louisiana Department of Health determines there aren't any contaminants.
Customers are asked to disinfect their water by boiling it for one full minute before consuming it.
