Winter Weather Advisory issued for Kern County, Sierra Nevada mountains

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Sierra Nevada and Kern County mountain areas beginning Saturday, officials said.
The issued advisory is in effect from Saturday at 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. Tuesday. NWS in Hanford said the advisory is in effect for the Kern County mountains beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
"There is a 40% to 70% for a 24-hour accumulation Sunday greater than 4 inches above 6,000 feet," NWS said in a post.
Forecasters at the agency said snow levels could drop between 2,500 feet and 3,500 feet this weekend. A model showed Frazier Park could get a total of 4 inches of snow, while Tehachapi could get a total of 2 inches of snow through Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The weather service also said measurable amounts of rain -- more than 0.01 inches -- are expected in Bakersfield, Lake Isabella and surrounding areas beginning Saturday.
