Ramona “Mona” M. Peters, 96
Ramona “Mona” Mae Peters, age 96, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Mona was born June 29, 1928, to Ben and Anna (Reandeau) Bendtsen in Wagner, South Dakota. She graduated as a valedictorian from Rose Creek High School in 1945. Mona was united in marriage to Henry Peters on September 26, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Their union was blessed with three children. Mona spent much of her life as a dedicated homemaker. She also worked in several grocery stores and was employed by Ben Franklin dime store and assisted her husband, Henry, with his Meadowbrook Soft Water Softener company. While working at Meadowbrook, Mona held a vital role in managing office tasks, including typing billing statements and overseeing shipping operations. Mona was known for her love of dancing; she was a regular at the Terp Ballroom, where she seldom missed a dance, especially when the Henry Charles Orchestra played. She also had a passion for costume-making, a talent that brought her joy and earned her several prizes. Mona was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and participated in many volunteer activities. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Charles (Beth) Peters of Austin, MN, Ralph Peters of St. Paul, MN, and Ben Peters of Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren, Kimberly Peters, Jillian Peters, Kirana Peters, Stephanie Peters, Adrienne (AJ) Dombeck, and Justin Peters; great-granddaughter, Ainsley Dombeck; siblings, Roma Samuelson of Austin, MN, B. Alan (Carole) Bendtsen of Madison, WI, Kay Lewison of Adams, MN, Gary (Barbara) Bendtsen of Elkton, MN, Karen Anderson of Rose Creek, MN, and Karol Blink of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Anna Bendtsen; husband, Henry Peters; sister, Marcine Bendtsen; brothers, Myles Bendtsen and DeWalden Bendtsen; and brothers-in-law, Harold Samuelson, Jack Blink, Curtis Lewison, and Russell Anderson.
The family would like to thank Sacred Heart Care Center for their kind and caring years, as well as Mayo Hospice for the loving end of life care. Special thanks to Beth Peters and Roma Samuelson for much love and time spent with Ramona.
A memorial service for Mona will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the American Legion Post 91, 809 12th St. SW., Austin, MN 55912. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion. Interment will be held at a later date. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin.
