Yost said that he gained a national reputation as an America First attorney general, supporting President Donald Trump's agenda at the state level.
"This is my heart, my home," Yost said. "I work for the people of Ohio, and I love my bosses. From the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night, I'm thinking about them and our future."
While in office, Yost said he has worked to counter COVID-19 vaccine mandates for businesses, was in office for the FirstEnergy corruption scandal, supported policies limiting gender transition surgeries and protecting girls' sports, and that he supports school choice.
Yost was elected Ohio Attorney General in 2018 and reelected in 2022 with more votes than any other attorney general in Ohio history, according to a statement for his campaign -- Dave Yost for Ohio.

Two other prominent figures are eyeing the governorship of Ohio. Most recently, Vivek Ramaswamy, who campaigned for Trump and Vice President JD Vance and was formerly the co-chair of Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, is mulling a run for governor.
Ramaswamy is no longer part DOGE after he signaled that he plans to run for Ohio governor. No official announcement has come from the Ramaswamy camp. Insiders have said that he wanted to wait until DeWine selected a replacement for Vance in the U.S. Senate before making a formal announcement. DeWine selected Lt. Gov. Jon Husted last week to fill Vance's Senate seat and he was sworn in Tuesday.
Dr. Amy Acton, who helped lead Ohio's early COVID-19 pandemic response, officially announced her candidacy earlier this month. Acton served as Ohio's health director in the early months of the pandemic and is a Youngstown native. Acton plans to run as a Democrat.
Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague had indicated that he plans to run for governor. Sprague filed a Designation of Treasurer document last week. Sprague, a Republican, has yet to announce an official gubernatorial run, but the form listed him as a candidate for governor in 2026.
Ohio's election for governor will be on Nov. 3, 2026.
