(KRON) -- Multiple lanes of eastbound Highway 4 in Pittsburg are shut down after a fatal crash early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. BART train service between North Concord/Martinez and Antioch stations is halted due to the crashed vehicle on the tracks. One person died in the crash just west of Bailey Road, CHP said. According to the Bay Area Rapid Transit District, a vehicle crashed at around 3:45 a.m. through barriers and onto the BART trackway 100 feet south of the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART station. Left lanes of eastbound Highway 4 are blocked as of 3:45 a.m. and are expected to be closed until at least 7 a.m. The car "significantly damaged" the BART trackway's third rail and infrastructure and will require repairs once the vehicle is towed out, transit officials said. BART issued a service advisory alerting commuters that service is stopped between North Concord/Martinez and Antioch. Bus service is being provided by County Connections between North Concord and Pittsburg Baypoint station, BART said. Passengers between Antioch and North Concord/Martinez stations are advised to seek alternate transportation. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
