Lee Lipinski to serve as Rider U. baseball’s interim coach
Jan 23, 2025
Lee Lipinski will take charge of the Rider University baseball team this season.
Athletic director Don Harnum announced Lipinski, a 2016 graduate and former player, as the interim coach for the 2025 campaign.
Lipinski takes over for Dr. Barry Davis, who stepped down last Friday after 20 seasons in the dugout.
“I’m excited for Lee to have the opportunity to led the program,” Harnum said. “I am confident he is up for the challenge.”
Lipinski is entering his eighth year on the coaching staff. He spent the past seven seasons as the hitting coach.
As a player, Lipinski, a catcher, was a two-time captain and part of a pair of regular-season championships (2013 and 2015). He amassed 115 career hits, 14 home runs and 80 RBIs. He threw out 50 runners attempting to steal, highlighted by a career-best and MAAC-leading 24 in his final season.
“I want to thank Coach Barry Davis for teaching me so much and setting an incredible example, as well as Athletic Director Don Harnum for his unwavering support and confidence in giving me this opportunity,” Lipinski said. “To my former teammates and the alumni who consistently support this program, your dedication does not go unnoticed and means the world to us.
“I am deeply grateful to my family, friends, and girlfriend for always standing by me and supporting me through the highs and lows that come with this profession. I wouldn’t have this opportunity without their constant love and encouragement.”
While on staff, the Broncs have won MAAC championships in 2021 and 2023, including the program’s first NCAA Tournament win in over 35 years when it defeated Coastal Carolina in the opening game of the 2023 Conway Regional.
Rider opens the season with a three-game series at Campbell that begins on Feb. 21.
“I have immense passion and respect for this program, and I will treat this role with the honor and dedication it deserves,” Lipinski said. “To the current team, I pledge to do everything in my power to make your experience unforgettable, filled with the best moments of your lives. I cannot wait to begin this journey with this incredible group of young men as we work tirelessly to achieve our goals together.”
