Elderly woman dead after Connecticut apartment fire

AVON, CT. (WWLP) - One person died in an apartment fire in Avon, Connecticut.
Detectives looking for missing Chicopee woman possibly driving Nissan SUV with Connecticut plates
The fire happened on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. on Avonwood Road at the Avon Place Apartments. Officials say they saw fire and smoke coming out of a unit on the first floor.
The Avon Police Department said an elderly woman was found dead in that unit. No other injuries were reported, and the majority of the residents have been allowed back in their apartments.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Avon Fire Marshal’s Office and the State Police Fire Unit
