Jan 23, 2025
SIOUX FALLS SD (KELO) -- It's a colder start to the morning across KELOLAND, with poor road conditions in the northern Black Hills region due to the snow and wind combination. Expect improving weather conditions in western SD as snow diminishes and wind speeds decrease this afternoon.
You can see the new snow on the ground in Deadwood. We should be looking at a break today.
Light snow showers and flurries fell in other areas of KELOLAND yesterday. This has also now departed to the south.
Temperatures with hold near 20 later today in Sioux Falls, about 7 degrees below normal.
Futurecast shows the chilly weather conditions today, but a warm front will arrive tomorrow. That will bring more NW winds and temperatures climbing back to the 30s. We also expect some light snow during the morning in northeastern KELOLAND.
We expect another round of steady and blustery winds on Saturday. While it's not terribly cold, NW winds gusting over 30mph will not feel warm. We expect those milder temperature to arrive by Monday.
In case you are curious, there is more snow in the ground in northern Florida compared to much of South Dakota right now.
For snow, big snow storms are not in the forecast across KELOLAND.
You can see the mild temperatures building in from the northwest next week. We expect highs in the 40s, with 50s not out of the question.
