How long do temps stay above freezing today?
Jan 23, 2025
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Great improvements will be seen in regards to the melting of snow and ice on our roadways. With overpasses and bridges likely being the last to be safe to drive on, most local grounded roads should be good to go by this afternoon. Lot's of sunshine in the forecast today. High temps rise into the middle to upper 40s. We are back above freezing as of 9 a.m. Metairie may not dip below freezing again tonight, as the overnight low is likely going to fall to only 33 to 34 degrees along the immediate south shore.
By 9 p.m. tonight temps will fall below freezing again on the Northshore. Not warming back up above freezing until 9 a.m. Friday morning. That leaves a solid 12 hours of temps below freezing. Puddles, if any left, will refreeze.
Areas west of the lake will fall below freezing again between 10 p.m. and midnight.
After this generational snow is all gone. We are expecting a stretch of fairly mild weather to wrap up the month. This is great news to those of you who aren't wanting frigid temps for upcoming Super Bowl festivities taking place in the next two weeks.
Fingers crossed that nice weather continues into the start of our parade schedule.
