MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Three people escaped a fire at a mobile home in Millington on Thursday morning, officials say. The Millington Fire Department and Shelby County Fire responded to the incident on Cloverhaven Drive just after midnight. The fire was under control around 12:30 a.m. Reports say the trailer was occupied by three people who were able to escape. No injuries were reported. Now the frame of the once-bustling family home is the only thing left standing. "My heart goes out to them. I mean I don't wish this on nobody. It's too cold for this," said neighbor Debbie Altamirano. "I thought it was my neighbor's shed because I heard the snapping, crackling, and popping. It was in a blaze." Altamirano, who lives a few doors down, said neighbors immediately jumped into action. 📡 See more breaking news, local news and weather from WREG.com for Memphis and the Mid-South. 📧 Sign up for WREG newsletters and have the latest top stories sent right to your inbox. "It was hot. We couldn't get close to it. My neighbor had a fire extinguisher and she put some of the grass fire out," she said. Those living in this home aren't the only ones impacted. The fire spread to the mobile home next door, leaving considerable exterior damage. Neighbors say the family living in that home also made it out safely. "I want to cry only because I went through Katrina. So, I know what they're going through... not to have nothing," said Altamirano. Altamirano says having experienced similar trauma, her heart goes out to her neighbors as they embark on a new, unexpected journey. "You lost all your personal belongings, possibly pictures, your documents, all your paperwork. You lost everything. Where do you start? Who do you turn to? Where do you go?" she said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
