The Consumer Affairs Response Team in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office helped in recovering the money. The response team engages with Nebraska businesses and consumers to facilitate a voluntary resolution of consumer complaints. Hilgers says these recoveries are from instances where consumers lost money to a business or scam, such as identity theft, imposter scams, home repairs, auto issues and online shopping.
Two years ago, the Consumer Affairs Response Team recovered over $1-million.
