LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! Temperatures weren’t quite as cold as what we have been dealing with for your morning hours. Actual air temperatures only fell into the upper teens and low 20s for most areas due to a southerly wind. However, this wind did make it feel much colder. Wind chill values fell to the single digits for most areas. Temperatures will be climbing into the low 30s today with a few late afternoon and evening light snow showers. Late Thursday Snow Showers A few snow showers will be arriving ahead of a cold front this afternoon. Don’t expect much, if any, accumulation from these light snow showers. A few quick bursts of snow will be possible so don’t let that catch you off guard during your p.m. commute. Cold Friday Expected Temperatures will be dropping once the front exits overnight. Friday morning lows will be well into the teens, possibly into the single digits for some across the northern half of the area. Temperatures really don’t improve too much for your Friday afternoon either. Most areas will only reach the low-to-mid 20s, with a wind chill into the mid-to-upper teens. Gradual Warm-up Saturday will be starting off cold once again with morning lows into the teens. However, by the afternoon we should be rebounding back into the upper 30s and low 40s. This isn’t a huge warm-up by any means but definitely an improvement. There is still low-end chance for late weekend system to move in late this weekend, though the trend is for this to miss most of the area to the south and southeast. We do expect temperatures to bounce back into the mid-40s for the middle of next week as well. ABC 36 HOUR FORECAST Thursday: Partly-to-mostly cloudy with a few PM snow flakes. Highs in low 30s. Thursday Night: Few flakes early and temperatures drop. Lows in the teens, possibly single digits. Friday: Mostly sunny and cold. Highs in the 20s.
