I5 reopens through Grapevine after hourslong closure due to another massive LA County wildfire

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Grapevine is open in both directions after being closed for several hours Wednesday due to a large brush fire in Castaic, just south of the Kern County line.
Traffic was being turned around at the base of the Grapevine for those trying to head south to Los Angeles. The closure started around 2 p.m. and traffic cones were lifted at 7 p.m.

The Hughes fire is still very active, but fire crews have managed to gain a 14% containment on the blaze. More than 50,000 residents are under evacuation orders or warnings.
The fire started near Lake Castaic just before 11:00 a.m. yesterday morning exploding to more than 10,176 acres in a matter of hours in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
The wind-driven fire burning the equivalent of one football field every ten seconds. The good news, CalFire is reporting the fire is now 14% contained.

Evacuation orders surrounding Lake Castaic expand all the way out into Ventura County. If you live in a red zone, you have to go now if haven't already, according to the Genasys app.
Evacuation warnings are in yellow--meaning you need to be ready to go.
