McKee to give update in wake of RIBridges cyberattack

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Governor Dan McKee will provide an update Thursday on how the state is moving forward since the RIBridges hack.
Today Governor McKee will provide an update on the relaunch of the HealthyRhode customer portal.
It manages many of the state services and benefits programs, including its health insurance exchange.
Rhode Island’s public benefits computer system was shut down on December 13 after it was breached by hackers.
The cyberattack potentially exposing the data of hundreds of thousands of Rhode Islanders.
This includes those who used or applied for state services that include SNAP benefits, Medicare and Medicaid.
State officials confirmed earlier this month that hackers published sensitive information of residents on the dark web.
Which includes information like addresses, social security numbers and even banking information.
Deloitte, the vendor who runs the RIBridges system, is now facing two class action lawsuits following the breach.
A multilingual toll-free call center is available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
It will also take calls on weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The phone number is 833-918-6603.
Letters were mailed out earlier this month to notify residents impacted by the RIBridges breach.
The letters also detail how to access five years of free credit monitoring.
The deadline to sign up is April 30.
Governor McKee will provide an update today at 2:15 Thursday afternoon.
